CEI’s PRIORITY SECTORS
Nicaragua is a country with agricultural and livestock tradition. It has a total of 3.6 million hectares of potentially fertile lands. Approximately 70% of the land is uncultivated and 60% of the national territory is made up of woodlands with impressive vegetation and fauna.
The agricultural and livestock sector is very important for the socio-economic development of the country. Itre presents 28% of the GDP and provides employment to 43% of the total workforce, which in turn, represents 67% of the value of exports.
For this reason, within its intervention strategy, CEI grants priority to the following sectors and value chains.
- Dairy Products
- Basic Grains
- Fruit, Vegetables and Garden Produce
- Organic Products
(honey, cocoa, coffee, garden produce, sesame and cashews)
- Handcrafts
- Leather and Footwear
- Wood and Furniture
- Agro-Tourism
