CEI’s PRIORITY SECTORS

Nicaragua is a country with agricultural and livestock tradition. It has a total of 3.6 million hectares of potentially fertile lands. Approximately 70% of the land is uncultivated and 60% of the national territory is made up of woodlands with impressive vegetation and fauna.

The agricultural and livestock sector is very important for the socio-economic development of the country. Itre presents 28% of the GDP and provides employment to 43% of the total workforce, which in turn, represents 67% of the value of exports.

For this reason, within its intervention strategy, CEI grants priority to the following sectors and value chains.

  • Dairy Products
  • Basic Grains
  • Fruit, Vegetables and Garden Produce
  • Organic Products

(honey, cocoa, coffee, garden produce, sesame and cashews)

  •  Handcrafts
  •  Leather and Footwear
  •  Wood and Furniture
  •  Agro-Tourism
